It’s been a while since my last post. A lot has been happening. In March 2019 I embarked on a self build project together with my two sons. We set about converting the existing outbuilding into a holiday let. The building stands in the garden and had been built by the previous owners as a workshop from which I am told they ran a sock knitting business. The photos below show the original building and show the transformation of the old workshop into the Larch Shed (so called because of the larch cladding). There were lots of ups and downs throughout the course of the build but it has been a hugely rewarding experience and I feel hugely proud of myself and my sons, Ben and Tim for what we have achieved as complete novice builders with support from the design planner who completed the drawings to satisfy building control and the planning department. We did all the work ourselves apart from the electrics, plumbing and stove fitting.

This looks wonderful. What a great project!
Best of luck with your new venture.

Wow, what a transformation! I’m sure with the amount of tourists that flock to Skye you will be a very busy bee, good luck with it all.
