Yesterday I drove to Fiscavaig to meet the owner of the holiday home that I am going to be looking after for the summer. The owner lives in France in the summer and was looking for someone to do changeovers every Saturday. I will be taking on the job from next Saturday so I now have three part time jobs! Fiscavaig is on the Minginish peninsula, so about an hour drive from where I live but I figure I don’t mind doing a longer drive to work once a week and can use the time when I finish to explore a part of Skye I don’t know so well. Yesterday after meeting the owner I drove to Portnalong, a little fishing harbour not far from Fiscavaig. I spotted a cormorant across the bay with wings outstretched to dry. I walked around to the jetty where he (or she) was sitting to see if I could get close enough to take a few photos.
The cormorant is in the distance on the concrete jetty.
Close encounter with a cormorant.
